Learn more about what is organic.
Organic describes a process of food production that avoids the use of synthetic inputs such as chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, growth regulators or hormones and antibiotics.
Organic agriculture is about growing food without synthetic fertilizers as well as using the following practices:
Organic production is based on a system of growing foods with a minimal impact on the environment. The focus is to maintain healthy soil, water conservation and animal welfare.
Certified Organic means that a product has been produced in accordance with specific guidelines and organic standards, as established by a certifying agency. Operations are expected to keep thorough and accurate records of all their inputs and are inspected on a regular basis by the certifying agency.
Organic practices benefit our health and the health of our planet by increasing soil and ecosystem health. Unfortunately with the state of our planet no food can be totally chemical free. Organic farmers and especially certified growers guarantee that they do not use toxic chemicals in their production of food. However, because there is so much land used in conventional growing where chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides are regularly used, the wind and water disperse these chemicals into all our lands and waters. Chemicals have been found in soils in remote jungle areas and in the Arctic.
It is important to learn how and where your food is grown so you can make healthy choices for yourself and your family. Your Choice Organics delivers organic produce to residents of the Sunshine Coast.
